My recent trip to India gave me a chance to renew old friends and make new deals with Wind and Solar. Three (3) new deals are started.India is a great place to see the natural elements working to make power.

I have been asked why Basic Solar USA, Inc. (Sister Ohio company to Balmoral) may need a 40-ton crain? Our staff and one overseas client have been getting excited about the Siemens SST 100. It is a single-casing multi-stage stream turbine, providing geared drive to 1,500 and 1,800 epm generators and packaged in a framed-mounted design and is 40 tons without oil.

Concentrated solar power (CSP) & Parabolic Troughs

Parabolic Troughs are the main component and a type of solar thermal energy collector for CSP.

*Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) systems. It is constructed as a long parabolic mirror (usually coated silver or polished aluminum) with a tube running its length at the focal point. Sunlight is reflected by the mirror and concentrated on the Dewar tube. The trough is usually aligned on a north-south axis, and rotated to track the sun as it moves across the sky each day. Alternatively the trough can be aligned on an east-west axis, this reduces the overall efficiency of the collector, due to cosine loss, but only requires the trough to be aligned with the change in seasons, avoiding the need for tracking motors. This tracking method works correctly at the spring and fall equinoxes with errors in the focusing of the light at other times during the year. Heat transfer fluid (usually oil) runs through the tube to absorb the concentrated sunlight. This increases the temperature of the fluid to some 400°C. The heat transfer fluid is then used to heat steam in a standard turbine generator. The process is economical and, for heating the pipe, thermal efficiency ranges from 60-80%. The overall efficiency from collector to grid, is great.

Basic Solar USA Inc. (sister company of Balmoral Capital) have signed a MOU concerning making of parabolic troughs in Ohio and other locations. Balmoral has announced they will begin new operations in Sofia, Bulgaria. Among other agreements, Balmoral has signed a 25 year agreement with Apex (http://www.apexexperts.com/) to develop technical permissions, deploy EPC contractors and operate Solar facilities in Bulgaria. The new location is situated 12.5kms away from the International airport and within few hours of the Solar sites.

Today, the Ivory Coast is the richest country in West Africa. The nation's 8 million people earn one of the highest wages in Africa. The Ivory Coast's wealth comes from minerals, oil, and many agricultural products, especially coffee. Ivory Coast now accounts for more than 8 percent of the world's coffee! The only nations that produce more coffee are Brazil and Colombia.

BULGARIAN SOLAR FARMS

BVI http://www.balmoralcompanies.com/ today announced they will participate as majority owner, integrator and build own and operate (BOO) in several Bulgarian solar farms. Farms are in Northern Bulgaria near Varna and the Black Sea.
First 40-acre, seven-megawatt solar farm is beginning in Vetovo, Bulgaria where the City has already approved for a SPV owners. Last week a Town Hall meeting was conducted and a majority vote agreed to proceed on the project. Vetovo Mayor and council have signed the permissions from the Municipal government. Balmoral and the local association will expand the operations to 8 other locations within 100 miles of each other to be developed over 16 months totaling 104 MW.
